Tanto Metro & Devonte
Musically Inclined
VP 1712

By Robert Kaye

Published March 16, 2007

Jamaican dancehall princes Tanto Metro and Devonte (Wayne Passley) are at again, this time creating a sure-to-become-a-hit album with their new release. Musically Inclined is based on reggae, of course, but is also stuffed with elements of hip-hop, Motown, disco and more. Both “Doesn’t Mean A Thing” and “What You Want Me To Do” are fine examples of good pop songwriting coupled with practiced production skills. The album was recorded in various studios New York, Miami and Kingston, taking advantage of some of reggae’s leading producers and mix masters. Like their previous radio hit, “Everyone Falls In Love,” this album is destined to storm out of the tropics onto the American mainland. In addition to their respective discographies, they have experienced success performing worldwide as well. Together, the pair delivers a powerful one-two punch, augmented by the fact both have also enjoyed success as solo artists. More success is predicted.
