Afropop Worldwide To Be Broadcast Six Nights A Week On Radio New York 91.5 FM
Published July 8, 2008
By Charissa Che

Got a thirst to enrich your cultural palette with all things related to Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and New York? If so, Radio New York 91.5 is definitely the place to be. Now, listeners can indulge in music spanning the world six nights a week on the station’s latest program Afropop Worldwide.

Broadcast from Monday through Saturday at 11 p.m., the program will be hosted by international radio personality Georges Collinet from Cameroon, and distributed by PRI Public Radio International to over 100 stations in the U.S. Upcoming programs include “Afropop Worldwide's Summer Concert Extravaganza,” concert highlights from the Sfinks Festival in Belgium, “Afropop’s Shout-Out To New Orleans,” “Indo-Caribbean Music and Culture” (a three-part summer dance marathon extravaganza in August), and “Afropop Roadshow” (a portrait of Afro-Peruvian culture).

“It is really exciting to add Afropop Worldwide to our new world and indie music schedule,” said Matthew Tollin, GM of Radio Operations for Radio New York. “This dynamic showcase of contemporary African music and culture is a perfect fit for Radio New York’s new diverse music programming.”
