Australasian World Music Expo To Be Held November 20 To 23
Published September 11, 2008

The Australasian World Music Expo will bring together musicians, industry representatives and festival audiences from across Australia and around the globe for three days of the finest Indigenous, roots and world music from the Australasian region.

From solo to collaborative, traditional to contemporary, from the lush highlands of West Papua through the Pacific to the vast arid deserts of Australia and its major cities, the Australasian region is home to some of the most unique cultures, voices and sounds this planet has to offer.

Concerts are scheduled for the evenings of November 20, 21 and 22 at The Spiegeltent and Transit Bar, and on Sunday November 23 as part of the main South Seas concert at the Arts Centre, Hamer Hall.

The Arts Centre and APRA will host a series of daytime forums on November 21 and 22, with topics that range from Festival and Touring Guide for Europe to Indigenous Australian Music Today, Copyright and Culture, Songwriters Speak, and
Marketing and Touring Your Product in North America.

Artists performing this year include Archie Roach, Ruby Hunter, Gurrumul, Kora (NZ), David Bridie, Moana & the Tribe (NZ), Ladi 6 (NZ), Dan Sultan, Lou Bennett & Sweet Cheeks, George Telek (PNG), Mista Savona, Brotha Black, Kutcha Edwards, Shane Howard, Natty Sistren Sound, Grrilla Step, Badu Island Dancers (TSI), Pacific Curls (NZ), Timothy Seda (Solomon Is), Skazz, Zennith, Yilila and Red Flag Dancers, as well as Hein Arumisore from West Papua, Marcel from Vanuatu, the Sing Sing Concert, and Gulaan from New Caledonia.
