Ozo will be performing in some cities for the first time, while all shows feature the welcome return of rapper Chali 2na, a key member of Ozo’s eponymous debut release and legendary early live performances. The band will be unveiling new songs with Chali, as well as revisiting some old school jams that have not appeared in Ozo’s set-list for some time.   Ozomatli has always juggled two identities. They are the voice of their city and they are citizens of the world… while their music has long followed a key mantra: it will take you around the world by taking you around L.A.   Originally formed to play a Los Angeles area labor protest, Ozomatli spent their early days participating in everything from earthquake prep "hip hop ghetto plays" at inner-city L.A. elementary schools to community activist events, protests, and city fundraisers.   Since then, Ozo have been synonymous with their city: their music has been embraced by the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Clippers, they recorded the street-view travelogue “City of Angels” in 2007 as a new urban anthem, and most recently, Ozomatli were featured as part of NBC’s prominent L.A. figures imaging campaign “We Are 4 L.A.”   The three-time Grammy Award winners and two-time Billboard Latin Award winners are also the brand new hosts of “The Ozomatli Morning Show” on Los Angeles radio station 98.7 FM.   Last year, Ozomatli served as Ambassadors on a series of government-sponsored international tours to Asia, Africa, South America, and the Middle East, tours that linked Ozomatli to a tradition of cultural diplomacy that includes the esteemed likes of Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, and Louis Armstrong.   For those who’ve wondered how a band known for its vigilant anti-war stance could partner with the very Bush administration they have so vocally critiqued, Ozomatli are clear about their position: it was all about responding to a global “cry for change” by using music to promote messages of peace and understanding.   “I’ve always felt that music is the key to every culture, the beginning of an understanding,” says vocalist and trumpet player Asdru Sierra. “It’s a language far more universal than politics.”   10/26/08    Voodoo Music Experience - New Orleans, Louisiana 10/27/08    Warehouse Live - Houston, Texas 10/29/08    Stubb's - Austin, Texas 10/30/08     House of Blues - Dallas, Texas 10/31/08     Liberty Hall - Lawrence, Kansas 11/01/08 & 11/02/08    Fox Theatre - Boulder, Colorado 11/05/08    Wilma Theatre - Missoula, Montana 11/06/08    Big Easy Concert House - Boise, Idaho 11/07/08    Crystal Ballroom - Portland, Oregon 11/08/08 & 11/09/08 Showbox at the Market - Seattle, Washington 11/12/08    Senator Theatre - Chico, California 11/13/08    Crystal Bay Club, Crown Room - Crystal Bay, Nevada 11/14/08    Mystic Theatre   Petaluma, California 11/15/08    The Catalyst  Santa Cruz, California 12/11/08 - 12/14/08 The Fillmore  San Francisco, California 12/18/08 - 12/20/08  of Blues  West Hollywood, California
