Guitarist Esteban To Play Benefit Concert In New Orleans
Published September 14, 2006

Visionary guitarist Esteban will be playing a one-hour uninterrupted concert in the new concert hall in the Harrah's Riverfront Hotel & Casino in New Orleans on Friday, September 22nd at 10:00 pm EST/9:00 pm CT. The concert is being held for First Responders to Hurricane Katrina and will be broadcasted LIVE on HSN to 89 million viewer's homes.

Following the performance, Esteban will be selling his famous guitars and DVD sets on HSN and HSN.com.  A portion of HSN sales are going to Habitat for Humanity in support of Hurricane Katrina.  Esteban is also set to release his highly anticipated 16th studio album Best of Esteban (Dreambox Records) on October 17th, 2006. This release exemplifies why Billboard Top 200 charting Esteban continues to be one of the most exciting and important forces in classical and modern guitar playing and why Best of Esteban is being hailed as his most accomplished album to date.

With Best of Esteban, one of the world's most prolific composers and guitarists of our time has not merely created a retrospective. Instead of a simple cut-and-paste collection, the man once known as Stephen Paul took a handful of concert favorites and returned to the studio to reinvent them. The result is a 12-track ride combining the likes of fiery blues, classic rock, original jazz and stylish flamenco.

Global music has always played big into this Pittsburgh native's life. Beginning at the age of four Esteban would visit his Uncle George's house every Sunday to hear an eclectic mix of Western and Indian classical sounds, as well as flamenco and Russian folk music. His love of the floating scales inspired him early on, causing him to want to play guitar immediately. Hearing men like the great sarod player Ali Akbar Khan would "get into my cells, and it continued through my life. It's a little dissonant for our western ears, but I've loved it since I was a little kid."

He has currently sold over 2,500,000 albums via concerts, websites and HSN and his success has landed him the No. 53 and No. 54 on the Billboard Top 200.  He has teamed up with Sony RED for the upcoming album release; his first major distribution deal to date.  This is his first new album since 2003 and fans worldwide are highly anticipating the debut.
