On March 7, 2008 it was announced that Las Dos Caras de Jano (The Two Faces of Janus) has been selected as an official film entry—and is set to premiere—at The 24th Annual Chicago Latino Film Festival. The film most notably stars celebrated Puerto Rican actor Modesto Lacen. The second film to be produced by Propaganda Films, Las Dos Caras de Jano tells the story of Isabelo Andújar (Lacén), a private detective on a mission to catch serial killer "The Angel of Bachelors" who preys on some of Puerto Rico's closeted homosexual male socialites.
Lacen is a prominent figure in Hispanic television and film. He started off starring in Barrios and Desamores and soon had roles in major motion pictures such as The Animal (with Terrence Howard) and Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights. Modesto's talent has been dully noted and recognized with Special Mention at the Tribeca Film Festival for his work in 12 Hours and an ACE Award nomination for Best Actor in his current off-Broadway lead in Celia: the Life and Music of Celia Cruz.
Las Dos Caras de Jano is available for screening on Saturday, April 5th at 4 p.m. and Sunday, April 6th at 8:30 p.m. Both screenings will take place at the Landmark Century Centre Cinema, 2828 North Clark Street in Chicago, IL. This film is also scheduled for entry into HBO's New York International Latino Film Festival which will take place in New York City, July 2008.
