After a decade of cultivating Iceland Airwaves into an international destination on the music festival calendar, this year¹s biggest headliner was the economy. Taking place mere days after all three of the country¹s banks collapsed, Iceland Airwaves wasn¹t the usual cause for celebration. Still, the shows did go on, with buzz acts such as Yelle and Florence And The Machine, as well as Icelandic staples such as Gus Gus alongside myriad up-and-coming bands that are making a splash. Global Rhythm reporter Althea Legaspi brings us this festival overview podcast, featuring music, a fest review and interviews from those behind the scene.
