Mexico's Zoé Nominated For Three Grammys
Published October 2, 2007

The Recording Academy announced the nominations for the 8th Annual Latin Grammy Awards this morning and nominated Zoé in 3 categories making them one of the year’s most nominated bands. The band was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album (Memo Rex Commander y El Corazón Atómico de La Vía Láctea), for Best Alternative Song (No Me Destruyas), and Phil Vinall and Zoé were nominated as Producer of the Year for their work on the album. The 8th Annual Latin Grammy Awards will be held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and will be broadcast live on the Univision Network at 8 PM EST on Thursday, November 8.

This triple nomination for the Latin Grammy Awards is the crowning point of our most successful album and year so far. It is a great motivation for our next studio work and future projects, we are extremely surprised and thrilled by the news. I guess we´ll have to start planning a trip to Las Vegas." Angel Mosqueda, Zoé´s bass player, from Matamoros (México-US border city.)

On August 23 Zoé won an Oye! Award, the Mexican equivalent of a Grammy given by the Academia Nacional de la Música en México, for Best Group or Solo Artist in the Rock En Español category.

Zoé’s “Memo Rex Commander y el Corazón Atómico de la Vía Láctea” caused a sensation in Mexico upon its release in late 2006,with their new interpretation of Latin American alternative cool. The album quickly went platinum and became a touchstone of modern alternative music in Spanish. The band graced the cover of Mexican Rolling Stone and regularly plays to audiences of 10,000+. Their singles, like “Via Lactea”, have started to become staples in rock clubs from New York to Los Angeles. The unmistakable influence of The Cure, Jesus and Mary Chain, and The Stone Roses can be heard but Zoé’s unique sense of melody and fearless experimentation take it to an unimagined place.

November 28th will mark the bands 10-year anniversary. They will celebrate with a special event at Mexico City’s Palacio de los Deportes, which will be recorded for a live album and DVD expected to be released in early 2008. Zoé will be on tour throughout North America in September (dates below). Their NYC performance this past July at the Prospect Park Bandshell during LAMC became one of the most memorable shows at the park with dozens of fans storming the barricades and cutting the set short.
