Seu Jorge Returns To The Big Screen

Singer and actor Seu Jorge (Mr. George) has made appearances in such critically acclaimed films as the 2002 Oscar-nominated City Of God, in which he played Knockout Ned, as well as Wes Anderson’s The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou, in the role of Pelé dos Santos. Musically, he is responsible for the most successful tour of the UK ever by a Brazilian musician in 2006, alongside Radio 1 DJ and long-time Jorge supporter Gilles Peterson.

To be released on June 20, the film The Escapist will feature Jorge’s return to the big screen—and the spotlight—since his 2006 tour. The British picture will pit him alongside such stellar actors as Brian Cox, Joseph Fiennes and Liam Cunningham. The film has already generated much hype, with the likes of Radio 1’s James King deeming it “film making at its finest, The Escapist takes the prison-break movie to a new level.”

Additionally, Jorge’s new album, América Brasil is still; pending for release in the U.S.
