Colombian publishing company El Grupo Editorial Norma announces its partnership with Soraya as together they released the Spanish version of the singer/songwriter's memoir titled Con Las Cuerdas Rotas (Broken Strings).
Soraya succumbed to breast cancer on May 10, 2006. She was 37 years old.
The book, written by Soraya, was released yesterday through the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Puerto Rico, as part of the activities related to the annual Race For The Cure event. The series of walks and races are the biggest in the world, with 1.5 million participants raising donations for the fight against cancer. This second edition of the race will be dedicated to the memory of Soraya, who was last year's guest of honor.
Con Las Cuerdas Rotas is available in bookstores in San Juan, Puerto Rico and in the U.S., as well as at www.norma.com. It has also been released in Colombia and throughout the rest of Latin America. To honor the artist's last wishes, proceeds from the sale of the book in each country will be distributed to local organizations dedicated to educating women to take charge of their health and to promote early detection of breast cancer.
Con Las Cuerdas Rotas is a testimony to perseverance, struggle, passion and generosity. For the first time Soraya describes, in her own words, the events that marked her life from her childhood, her beloved ones, the beginning of her music career and the challenges she faced.
Soraya Inc. is currently in negotiations to publish the English language version of Con Las Cuerdas Rotas in May, 2007.
