Tinariwen has signed a four-album recording deal with the London based Independiente label, home of Travis, Embrace, Martina Topley Bird, Black Bud and others. Label boss, Andy Macdonald was responsible for bringing you the likes of Portishead, The Las, The Beautiful South, Billy Bragg, Gabrielle and Paul Weller on his previous imprint, Go Discs.
Tinariwen spent the first half of February at Studio Bogolan in Bamako recording their new album Assouf, which is due out later this year.
Tinariwen have been nominated for the 25th International Reggae and World Music Awards
A shot of Tinariwen is being used by National Geographic to launch and promote their new World Music website.
