Vancouver’s Global Music TV Program world.beats Now Video Podcasting Planetwide
Published May 9, 2006

world.beats joins Celt In A Twist, Canada’s Contemporary Radio Hour, in a podcast format available at the iTunes Store. Just search ‘worldbeats’ under podcasts. You’ll find an entire episode in six, easy to download segments, updated each month. world.beats actively seeks out the latest videos from around the globe to present a true picture of the emerging, contemporary world music scene.

“But, it’s not just about the content”, says executive producer, Cal Koat, “it’s about giving context to this fascinating music phenomenon. I’m not aware of another video program that provides the writing and research to go along with those exciting images, revealing the story behind today’s global music and the artists who make it. I can’t tell you how many times international performers have appeared as guests on the show and exclaimed, ‘Wow, I wish we had this kind of show in L.A., New York, Toronto or wherever.’ Now, it is available to world music fans, commercial-free, and subscription-free from Berlin to Buenos Aires to Baghdad.”

Forthcoming podcast projects will also include a monthly Worldbeat Canada Top 30 radio roundup.  Stay tuned and get on the download. Celt In A Twist and world.beats from Calcopyrite Communications … like two peas in a pod!

world.beats also proudly announces its official sponsorship of the Urban Groove Series at the historic Commodore Ballroom as part of the 21st Annual TD/ Canada Trust Vancouver International Jazz Festival. Over ten nights, between June 23rd and July 2nd, we’ll be introducing some of the world’s greatest global and new music performers including Baaba Maal, Nils Petter Molvaer, The Cat Empire and many, many more.

This week on Celt In A Twist: an exclusive interview with the golden voice of the  Afro Celt Soundsystem, Iarla O’Lionaird, who tells us why he’s leaving the band after ten years and why his new, cosmic album, Invisible Fields, points to another, exciting direction in his musical career.

Watch world.beats with Vanesa Tomasino, Saturday and Sunday nights at 10 on Channel M, Cable 8 in Vancouver. Hear Celt In A Twist with Patricia Fraser, Sundays at 4pm on AM 140. CJVB in Vancouver.
