Tickets for the $27,000,000 stage production of The Lord of the Rings, composed by Värttinä and the celebrated Indian composer A.R. Rahman, went on sale on May 15. It took nearly $1,000,000 on its first day in internet sales alone, and to date has taken an impressive $7,000,000 at the box office with still nine months to go before its first performance on February 2, 2006 in Toronto, Canada. The gala opening night will take place on March 23, 2006. A London production is slated for its West End Premiere in winter 2006/07.
